Introducing new Safety $ense newsletter

PLANET’s new online safety newsletter — Safety $ense — is an exciting new resource of valuable safety information to reduce workplace injuries and deaths and, in turn, to help lower your insurance costs and reduce your company’s exposure to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) penalties. Check out the inaugural July issue of Safety $ense in both English and Spanish. Links to subsequent issues will be e-mailed to you each month and access to archived issues will be available by logging into the Member Center of the PLANET Web site.

PLANET to host lively auction at Green Industry Conference

Do your part to support the green industry by attending and/or donating to PLANET’s Live Auction — a fun-filled evening of enthusiastic bidding against your peers. The auction will take place on October 24, in conjunction with PLANET’s Green Industry Conference in Louisville, Kentucky. Last call for Legislative Day on the Hill registrations

Join other green industry professionals on July 15–17, 2007, to take a stand on Capitol Hill by discussing vital industry issues with legislators at PLANET’s Legislative Day on the Hill. The day before the Hill visits, attendees are invited to volunteer their skills and/or equipment for the “Renewal & Remembrance” project, a national community service effort to beautify Arlington National and Historic Congressional cemeteries. Lawn care members urged to participate in awards program

Chalet Landscape Co. was awarded both a Merit and Grand award for two residential lawn care projects in last year’s Environmental Improvement Awards program. “National awards not only enhance our stature with our peers, but also with the customer,” says Chalet Landscape’s Bill Leuenberger. “What better way to tell a potential customer what you do and how well you do it than having a nationally diverse panel of judges praise your work?”

Leuenberger suggests shooting a variety of quality images. Take your time. It is important to remove debris, being careful to rake out tire tracks from the mower as well as making certain there are no company cars or trucks in the photos. He also recommends that the entry form information include the products (organic or otherwise) applied to the turf and mechanical enhancements used on the project.

All entries must be received by PLANET no later than July 25, 2007.
